TODOROV- Simpson's Movie

Todorov's narrative theory states that most plot's or stories follow the same path which is the path that I have shown below. It is made up of 5 steps:
1. Equilibrium

In this movie the equilibrium is the way it is all displayed as a happy place and each character is more content meaning you know who they are and what they are like due to your first sightings. You see from the start that most things seem to be how they should be with no disruptions.
You are introduced to the family and you see Homer on the roof just doing his chores which seems to be normal, in a way.

2. Disruption of Equilibrium

The next part of the film you are introduced to the disruption and the things that soon disrupts the happiness you saw in the first part of the story. The disruption is seen when Homer saves a pig and this leads to the pollution of the lake which then leads to the large dome causing the town to be secluded and captured.

3. Recognition of the disruption

The recognition occurs when everyone realises what is occurring and what this problem has caused, and who to blame this causes the chaos. The chaos included the family having to try and escape the mad villagers and the mess they have caused, they do this however now they have left everyone with the issue and this causes more disruption and anger. They leave due to them being kicked out and drive to Alaska.

4. An attempt to repair the disruption

In this part of the story you see the characters which is Homer try and repair the damage he has done to the town and also to his family. He goes back to be reunited with his family and be the one to save springfield for what in reality he caused in the first place, by doing this he repairs his relationship with his family as well.

5. New equilibrium

This is the part in the film were you see everything that had happened go back to normality, by the big dome being blown up and being free and happy again.
