The Oscars is an annual American awards ceremony celebrating cinematic achievements in the film industry. The Oscars was first televised in 1953 but is now seen live in more than 200 countries.The Oscars is also the oldest entertainment awards ceremony and that is why many believe it to be the most prestigious cinema awards ceremony in the world. The Oscars has a policy that Presidents are elected for one-year terms and may not be elected for more than four consecutive terms. The Oscars first president was Douglas Fairbanks who served from 1927 to 1929. Since the first president there have been 34, so overall to present day there have been 35 presidents. The present day president is Cheryl Boone Isaac's.

The Tony Award
The Tony Award recognizes achievement in live Broadway theatre. The awards are presented by the American Theatre Wing and The Broadway League which is a ceremony hosted annually in New York City. The awards are given for Broadway productions and performances, and an award is given for regional theatre. The award was founded in 1947 by a committee of the American Theatre Wing and this committee was headed by Brock Pemberton. The award is named after Antoinette Perry, nicknamed Tony, an actress, director, producer and co-founder of the American Theatre Wing, who sadly died in 1946. The first awards ceremony was held on April 6, 1947, at the Waldorf Astoria hotel in New York City

The MTV Video Music Awards
The VMA is an award presented by the cable channel MTV to honor the best in the music video mediums. The annual VMA ceremony occurs before the end of summer and held either in late August or mid-September, and broadcast live on MTV. The first VMA ceremony was held in 1984 at New York City's Radio City Music Hall. The ceremonies are normally held in either New York City or Los Angeles, however the ceremonies have also been hosted in Miami and Las Vegas.
