When was it started?
I found this prezi presentation that truly goes into depth about certain issues in games giving clear examples which I found interesting and useful at the same time.
Overall i found this topic interesting as i learnt a lot of the representation of many females in video games which i never noticed or thought of before. The industry is very complex and complicated but this information made it a lot clearer and made me understand the ins and out of the industry.
The gaming industry started in 1971, the game that was released was of the arcade game, Computer space. The next year however Atari, Inc released pong the first commercially successful video game.

'Computer space' was the video game released in 1971 by Nutting Associates which was created by Nolan Bushnell and Ted Dabney, who later found Atari Inc.

They took in about $9.5 billion in the US in 2007, 11.7 billion in 2008, and 25.1 billion in 2010, showing how the computer and video game industry have grown from focused markets to mainstream due to the size the industry has grown.
Key milestones in the industry?
The early 1980s: Golden age of video games, it went from $50 million in 1978 to £900 million in 1981. It also saw the rise of home computing.

1990s: many significant advancements including
- Adaption of CD based storage
- Advancement in 3D designs
The gaming industry also generated worlwide sales of $19.8 billion in 1993 only 12 years after the $900 million showing how much it had grown and developed.
