Reggie Yates: Race Riots USA
In this show we were taken on a tour around the tragic event of Michael Brown and the shooting that started a large division now seen in USA between the police force and the black community. From the onset I was taken back by the event that took place and the tragedy that cause a lot of loss. We were given a tour by a black young male called Clifton who knew Michael and also new the areas and parts that were affected, we saw how the area was left after the riots caused by the release of the police officer Darren Wilson who was responsible for the killing of Brown.
The programme really opened the doors to the world they live in and what struggles they have to go through on their day to day basis, firstly by the ‘saggy trousers’ law that is stated in the short preview above, that really was ridiculous and seemed to be another reason to target the black community. The shooting was unnecessary and i don’t see how he deserved to lose his life for doing a minor offences, and then you see people such as the Oregon school shooter Chris Harper-Mercer who does for blatantly killing people and not caring at all. There has been however a lot of things in recent years and this year around the polices attitudes towards the black community and you hardly ever hear about a shooting or suspicious death towards a white person in the US. Sandra Bland is a prime example of this to show how the police tend to be suspicious around these events and groups such as Anonymous bring the so called truth to light which is scary.
Overall i found this programme very eye opening to the issues that the black community and the police force are facing, something just doesn’t seem right around the whole truth around each event and the police never get convicted for a full on murder with no reason, but they are still able to get off with no charges other than home leave. I did like in the programme that they showed the training of the police because it did bring to light how easy it could be to shoot when you are under pressure and holding a gun but in most of the circumstances they didn’t seem under pressure they just are seen to using it cause they have the right too, and i do not feel that that is right which is don’t deem reasonable.
Stacey Dooley Investigates: Saving the Cyber Sex Girls
From this programme I was horrified to find out what was going on in the world and this being deemed as normal and a practise that many do. When you go deeper into the programme however you understand that this truly seems to be some peoples income that is helping them survive and others are being abused and pressured. The thing that i found the most horrific about this programme was the factor that children as young as 2 were being shown on this show performing sexual acts, it really touched a nerve and i felt how could anyone deem this good and most importantly how could anyone buy this and watch a child be pressured and victimised by the terrible world they are either brought up in or brought into.
The main focus of the programme is around the issues of human trafficking and poverty that meant they ended up in the lifestyle and work they are now involved in, which is the work of cyber sex and people selling themselves to get money. The thing that really caught me was the factor that one inmate obtained over $1 million off being a cyber sex worker, this is astonishing but quite horrible to think that there is nothing else they could do to earn enough money other than selling themselves for disturbing men online, really does disgust me and the whole idea that they have come this low so they can live. It does show you that so many different things and organisations are going on under your nose and without programmes like this you would begin to understand how terrible life can get for many around the world, and the discovering and uncovering of it all.
Overall i found this programme to be very good in the aspects of it educating us but they way in which i has come into the picture is horrific in my opinion. I find it terrible that a women is able to lie to Stacy’s face and sat se was not involved with any of it but as you dig further into the information you discover that she had run an underage cyber sex den that brought children as young as 2 into the picture, truly sickening and should be found out and destroyed from ruining and scarring many children from the events they have to go through.
